Pello is a town next to the border of Finland and Sweden. Pello`s bridge is crossing the country border at Tornionjoki-river.
The goal of bridge architectural lighting plan is to enhance the bridge`s nightly appearance and emphasize the bridge`s role as border bridge. The themes of friendship, boundlessness and cooperation were the starting point for idea creation.
The outcome of project was an idea plan for bridge`s architectural- and street lighting. The theme of boundlessness is visible in bridge`s façade lighting as smooth color gradient of light. We took account both the view from bridge and outside the bridge. The streetlights will be renewed into LED-lights with custom light poles. The custom light poles will be decorated with illuminated snowfall-pattern perforation which depicts the Pello`s northern location.
My role in this project was concept design and visualization in cooperation with lighting design engineer.
The work was ordered by municipality of Pello.
