This phrase can easily explain the concept of this proposal as well as the current situation in Cikini-Ampiun. As Fig2 - Fig4 show, Cikini-Ampiun has about 4 times as much alleys as Menteng, the high economic residence based on super-block.
To create a more attractive alley, we have proposed a double layer acting as bridge on the existing alley (Fig5). This system can make soft border between private and public on the same alley. For example in Fig1, We proposed a bridge-like structure in front of the school in which the upper side is for private activi- ties like resting, sitting and etc...
On the other hand, under the bridge is for public activ- ities and this can keep existing activities of stalls. In the case of this private house, there’re many walls as separation now. However, this bridge system is not only as a public spaces for many people, but it also provides semi-private spaces for the owners.
