This book holder is designed as a “friend” who will always be prepared to help provide a more comfortable reading position. As it is very easily transportable and used anywhere. Not only can the book holder be used as a book mark or to display the pages of books in the home; recipe books and art books for example, but it would also be an ideal point of display feature for book shops.
The design of the shape is based on one sheet of Biodegradable polypropylene (PP). The shape is based on the function, as it is able to hold many different kinds of books, format A6 – A4 with 250 – 300 pages. Thanks to this material “Omanik” is very light and comfortable to use. The main part which makes the whole structure very rigid is the round shape on the back side. This shape also looks very elegant, so it became the main element of the design morphology.
The material could be in a wide range of colours and pattern options. I have decided to make it as simple as possible - white and plain. It does not only suit any colour and style of book, the colour also points out the shape and simplicity of the object. Another reason for choosing white as the colour of the book holder is that it does not distract you during the reading because the pages of the books are usually white as well.

Omanik

The Omanik is an everyday tool, which helps to read more comfortably. This universal design can help people with disabilities and all of us as well.
In my survey I found out that reading is a very popular hobby for people of every age and also very attractive for patients with limited mobility, everyday life in hospital, patients with dementia, etc. The problem with reading is that usually not everyone can hold the book with one hand, at a suitable angle or even hold it at all.
Many of the existing book holders are made from metal or solid plastic, so they are usually rigid and bulky. This one is flat pack and very portable. Most of them are also not very presentable, not intended for everyday use and specifically designed for the less able.
