Final Prototype and Final CAD Model of the Contrivance - CAPD (Computer Aided Product Design) is a subject in which you had to use Computer Aided Tools to Design a chosen product.
This is a Combination Stapler (Stapler, Paper Punch, Staple Pin remover), which is made out of Compliant Mechanism
Initial Concept of the Combination Stapler - This was the final concept in which we could successfully integrate the 3 functions:
1. Stapler
2. Paper Punch
3. Staple Pin remover

Iterations for conversion to Compliant Mechanism - Conversion to Compliant Mechanism was an Iterative process. It involves refinement of the profile to get the exact desired motion.
Final Stress Analysis of the Concept - This is made out of a single block of Polypropylene. It uses its inherent elastic property to get the required motion.
CNC Machining on the Polypropylene Block - A code was generated using SolidCAM. CNC Mill was used to cut the final profile of the Compliant Mechanism from the PP block.
On Clould 9 - View of the first Stapler pin that was stapled into the newspaper.
The fine alignment of the pin punch and the die required patience and dexterity
Metal inserts being made - The prototype required some metal inserts, which were fabricated in-house and inserted into the PP block.
