The photographer I studied was Irving Penn. I chose Penn mainly because, many of his Photos are very simple in composition, but utilize various subtle techniques that give them a unique look.
I photographed this using a portrait setting, as well as a no flash setting.
First, I applied a Black and White filter. Next, I burned and dodged various areas of the picture to create lighting effects.
