Over forty pages of fabrication drawings were needed to detail the displays. This one shows the floor plan. Many of the displays on the upper side of this layout were mobile, with ceiling tracks to guide the units as they slide back and out of the way for special events.
These elevations detail a large graphic area near the entry, consisting of aluminum posts and curved panels with large scale graphics.
This shows a display case housing reproduction Native American artifacts typical of those used in the area among local tribes.
This is one of several pages detailing the game unit. Pictures of the final display are shown below.
A large photomural wall at the rear of the exhibit space. The final result is shown in a photo elsewhere in this portfolio. The production of the photo on the wall required a fair amount of manipulation in Photoshop using filters and other adjustments to produce a quality image.
A rough mockup of one of the movable displays. The door on the cabinet was left off, as that was not an issue to be verified. In all three mockups were built, including one of the large game unit.
The large entry graphic display. The shop drawings of this unit is shown above.
One of the translucent panels in the area about local fishing opportunities.
The second of three panels about local fish and fishing. A detail of the bass sculpture appears below.
I worked with Tami Stewart, the artist who produced the sculpture, to finalize this touchable display.
The game unit. Spinning the large wheel revealed the play movements in the window on the front panel. I had custom boat shaped game pieces 3D printed for this unit.
A peek at the back of the game unit.
Typical movable display panels.

The design for this project was created by Sandra Farrell of the California State Parks. My job was to provide project management. I selected subcontractors, supervised final engineering and created the fabrication drawings, supervised all aspects of the project through build and install, and recorded all project documentation for the state's files. It was a difficult job, delayed when Covid shut things down, but it got done and the facility is now open to the public.
