The depths of outer space and the abyss of Earth’s Oceans, two vast bodies of mystery that are more alike than people realize. They both ebb and flow on an unimaginable scale and represent the essence of life’s beauty and rage. In this video project for my Electronic Art class, I wanted to recreate that essence outer space and the deep ocean emanate. To do this, I used After Effect’s fractal noise and cc particle world to generated an underwater sun that emits a kaleidoscopic light show in the same way light waves flow through the reflective distortions of water. As the aquatic sun lives its life it flows into different stages of cosmic and oceanic properties and themes.
