Crucible Cleaner Brush Upgrade
A motor driven wire brush cleaner required an upgrade to its brushes, belt, and motor. The purpose of the belt change was to reduce noise, therefore a cog belt was selected which required a new safety cover. The upgrade also included a larger motor that required a new mounting plate design. After the mounting plate, motor, and belt guard were designed, the placement of each was considered since the weight of the arm provides the force for the brush pressure. The components were adjusted until the center of gravity of the total design applied the appropriate amount of pressure at the brush end.
