Hive
Hive is a Self-directed project, at the tail end of my second year.
we we're given the option to do whatever we wanted, the possibilites were endless! I decided to work on Local Food, specifically the promotion and distribution of it.
Early ideas centered around a service based design outcome, however, I was mindful of the fact that I am a Product designer, and that I needed a physical outcome.
Therefore, I created a delivery receptacle. Hive used Thermos technology to keep food fresh once delivered, and was hung securely outside your home.
I wanted the product to become a beacon of support, encouraging others to use local producers to supplement their weekly shop at the supermarkets.
