Sustainable Washing Machine - Orbital is a new approach to washing clothes designed with user behaviour in mind to ensure every wash is every wash is environment friendly. User behaviour has a significant determination on a products environmental impact, as it is the user's decisions and habits that have a major effect on the energy and other resources the product uses. The innovative spherical drum pivots on two axes to allow your clothes to move in all directions for a faster and more energy efficient wash.

Changing Consumer Behaviour - Washing machines are large consumers of domestic energy. They produce a large amount of this energy wastage is due to the user’s bad laundry practices. Without change in consumer behaviour there will be few major environmental benefits to be gained from new efficient technology. User behaviour has a significant determination on a products environmental impact, as it is the user’s decisions and habits that have a major effect on the energy and other resources the product uses.

Removable Drum can be used as a Basket - User Behaviour Orbital provides the consumer with two drums, which can be used as washing baskets. One drum is white (for white/ light clothing) and the other drum is blue (for coloured/ dark clothing). Energy Efficiency Reducing the time and effort of sorting out clothes before a wash will shorten the number of steps required to achieve the end goal and this will lead to the task being accomplished successfully and efficiently.

Spherical Drum - The spherical drum pivots on two axes allowing your clothes to move in all directions for a faster and more energy efficient wash. Once the drum is inserted into the machine the solenoid drive rotates the drum. As the drum rotates in all directions a centrifugal force is acting on the drum. As the drum spins it forces the clothes to stick to the inner sides of the drum allowing the water to pass through and efficiently washes the clothes.

User Scenario - The detergent tray is designed to release the correct amount of powder and liquid for each wash. The drum is able to be lifted out of the washing machine making loading and unloading of clothes easier. The drum doubles up as a washing basket and comes in two colours for dark and white clothes.
