2015 WarmasYou heated outdoor seating
In 2015 I designed and prototyped an outdoor stool as a personal project.
It looks like a simple concrete stool but it has a hidden secret. I developed a system that uses the thermal properties of wax to store heat energy inside the stool. The result, plug it in for a while to charge then it can be unplugged and will stay warm for hours.
The energy saving over gas patio heaters is considerable as the energy is not wasted heating the surrounds or air, it goes straight to the customers bottom for a warm and luxurious feel.
Not something you would expect from a concrete seat on a cold winter evening!
The stool was a finalist in the 2015 Launch Pad furniture competition.
