Commuter Bicycle Concept
ÉCAL + Scott Bicycle

2014
Scott Bicycle, who are known for their high end sport bicycles (mountain and road) asked the écal masters class to develop a commuter style bicycle. Their brief asked that we work mostly with integrating ideas and functionality into the frame itself.
This was a group project which I worked with two other designers and with the company's marketing and engineers.
Our concept focused on integrating optional storage spaces, like a glove box to a car.
We presented three boxes on the bike, but in market use the user would likely choose either the front or the back depending on their taste.
The containers themselves are made from PET felt, an industrial material most commonly used for the trunk spaces in cars. It is made from recycled PET (water bottles etc) and is waterproof and quite strong. We also integrated integrated font and rear LED lights into the fork and seat stays.
