The Guide App is part 2 of a 3 part project aiming tackle the growing safety concerns as backcountry skiing and snowboarding rises in popularity.
The Concept features an eInk display located on the jackets sleeve. Embedded under a portion of the outer material the display appears seamless. Below this sits a thin multi-touch textile touchpad enabling basic gesture input. Powered through a smartphone, the concept uses the phones hardware - GPS and accelerometer coupled with the guide application to display location based data and encourage safe decision making.
Ortovox are a brand synonymous with avalanche safety which compelled me to develop the concept to complement their existing equipment.
