The design challenge for this project was to create an office building for an up-and-coming design firm. The program included office space as well as an art gallery on the first level. An open floor plan with multiple break out spaces allows for a collaborative and flexible work environment. The design was conceived as a bold, singular statement.
Grasshopper, the parametric modeling program, was used to create the paneled surfaces and space frame of the building. The design features a double skin, which allows for excellent day lighting, views, and ventilation. A spiral, paneled element wraps around the vertical circulation elements and creates the focal point of the building’s interior. Color changing LEDs are used to illuminate the building’s exterior.
