The design challenge for this project was to create a men’s suit store in an existing retail space. Significant space for tailoring and alterations had to be accounted for in addition to the display area. By splitting the floor plan vertically, the tailoring area gains access to day lighting, and the display area's spatial quality becomes that of a focused art gallery. The design was developed to be elegant, clean, and precise, just like the suits and clothing sold in the store. One defining element is perforated metal panels, which are back lit inside the space and sandwiched between glass on the exterior. Warm lighting and materials were chosen to encourage the shopper to feel at ease and spend time in the space.
