DEVELOPMENT: Development for the mark actually began as a few bad, unused proposals for an unrelated assignment. In these marks I saw an appealing sense of movement, and forms which could be modular and combined into other forms, or as letterforms (bottom row).
DEVELOPMENT: I have an annoying habit for stacking letters into grids; it’s probably why I’m still single. In keeping with this method, I stacked, flipped, and rotated a single element (bottom center) such that it combined to make a larger shape, itself modular, pattern-like, and resembling a wordmark. After experimenting with a number of color choices, I acheived a palette with the zest to meet the occasion.

Dinner Service

Mark for dinnerware and related collateral. I was encouraged to personalize my bowls and plates for the occasions that I host meals. I intended to create a monogram whose form and color would contrast the formal style of the dinnerware on which it would be placed.
