Adaptive Reuse. This course discovered urban development solutions to revitalize areas of the depleted city of Cairo, IL. The city is situated at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. To determine areas of need within the city, a case study of existing land use was required to determine areas of need. The studio also participated weekly
in town meetings to address concerns. After analysis of Cairo, I chose to adaptively reuse St. Mary’s Hospital to build a senior citizen living community for people in the region.
