Steel Design. A multi-story mixed use residential/commercial space that explores the varied functional and aesthetic qualities of steel while also integrating the context of the site. Steel was the driving force of design, influencing the visual representation of a public space. Integrating steel in the design and promoting social interaction at the site were the main challenges of the housing project. The overall design is a reflection of the conflict of the rectilinear city scape and the curvature of the natural site. The west contour of the building imitates the nearby creek.
