The group, Wax Wings, got their name from the Greek myth of Icarus. Icarus fashioned himself wings of wax and feathers and flew until his pride got the best of him and he flew too close to the sun which melted his wings. The design for their logo incorporates the myth without being too blatant. The shape is inspired by the head of a spear since the Greeks were known as warriors. The color is a warm golden tone like the sun.
This alternate design works well for branding on fliers for shows since it is more text reliant and less graphic. The main elements are still in place and create a cohesive brand identity by maintaining the wings and golden tone.
