Mahogany Entertainment Center - In 2008 I made this entertainment center to hold a new flat screen TV. It is faced with reclaimed mahogany. Internally it is made from 3/4 inch maple plywood. Flex and sag on the 6 foot shelves is prevented with cross grain support underneath the shelf. I wanted this piece to be multi-functional as a bench, or low shelf. I expect it will outlive my need for a TV.
Mahogany Entertainment Center - My neighbor's house was being remodeled. The carpenter threw out a bunch of nice dense mahogany in their dumpster. I retrieved it, planed off the old surface and used tung oil to bring out the nice natural colors and grains in the wood. The original nail holes can be seen still.

From my sketchpad - This is a set of iterations on various ways to cut up the space. I had several versions of the entertainment center that had a much more fixed use. They included full backing walls and specific storage for DVDs. Eventually, I threw settled on the dimensions of a low credenza and worked from there.
