Salt & Pepper Shaker, Mountains from Taro Nagano

When you glimpse these salt & pepper shaker, you may not find any relationships each other.

But, the salt shaker and the pepper shaker are connected by the concept of "Mountain".

I designed the pepper shaker inspired by "Volcano". When I saw pepper sprinkled from a shaker, I associated pepper with ash gushed from a volcano. From the association, I formed the pepper shaker into a volcano.

On the other hand, I designed the salt shaker inspired by "Snow Peaks". I associated clear salt with ice fields in the mountain. Salt sprinkled from a shaker also reminded me snow. From these associations, I formed the salt shaker into a snow peak.

For ideation, first of all, I researched salt and pepper shakers on the web and in the real. Then I explored several different design options using 2D and 3D sketches. From sketches, I came up with the forms were inspired by mountains.
