Catalyst to Make new form. Product form is inspired by many factors. As a designer, I explored and evolved form freely until I arrived at a solution that is resolved in terms of mass, proportion, rhythm, gesture, and detail. From a manufactured object, I made some drawings grasp the characteristic of form. I also select a familiar natural object. Next, I created a series of drawing of the manufactured object and with each drawing, morphed the object into more organic form. At last, I infused my morphed form with the characteristic form my natural object. This time I selected a Swix Replacement Pole Handle Locking Cap as a manufactured object and a banana as a natural object.
Warming up to explore 3D forest. As a first step, I made six sketch meddles that consisted of rectilinear. Next, I explored seven basic principles of proportion, balance, contrast, tension, and gesture by creating compositions comprised three blocks, one dominant, one sub dominant and one subordinate. The objective is to achieve unify of form in each configuration. The seven forms express each theme, Playful, Cool, Powerful, Precise, Calm, Elegant and Edgy.

Formative Fundamentals

I made these models as an assignment of the class of NYU product design fundamental I had taken.

It was so fun and exciting work to explore a beautiful form or interesting form without restrictions as tools.

Date: 2012 Note: This study was originally made for an assignment of the class of NYU product design fundamental I had taken.
