the concept of 36 or chattees - Integrating the forms of the nachasingha or the bison horned headgear from the tribes of chhattisgarh, and the hindi numeral 36 called chatees. This concept was however discarded on the cultural pretext of a well known phrase"chatees ka aankda..." which had negative connotations.
the concept of fort or garh - Using the fort wall as a lead element, this concept featured on the age old legend of 36 forts that once exisited here.
Chhattisgarh: the rice bowl of India - The region is called "dhaan ka katora" or "Ricebowl of India" rightly because it produces almost 23,000 varieties of rice. Bird motifs are believed to be a symbol of well being. It is a common belief here that birds attract other birds and bring prosperity. I also used birds as awemiotic metaphor for a traveller that is on a journeyto this region of nature's bounty. This concept was carried forward and refined further into various signage.
type and colour - Abertus and DV-Surekh are both inscriptional typefaces. The marked sharp ending strokes with its flared serifs are even more apparent in Albertus. The colour scheme was set to copper and black which was inspired from the crafts of lohshilp and dhokra from the Bastar region. Consistency in colur and material would integrate the entire system and also facilitate relevant information to the tourists.
