milanmudita - Shringar, or love has its moods that have been a popular subject for Indian miniature painters. There are eight heroines or Ashtanayikas classified in Indian literature wherein a heroine may be pieced in relation to the hero in different love situations or avasthas. The mood expresses youthful, carefree love. Milan-mudita literally meaning the one who is happy to meet her lover.

In India a lot of proverbs and phrases are based on kitchen ingredients from daily cooking...jeera, daal, til, gud etc...that add flavour to food! This series is a visual pun drawing inspiration from such proverbs and phrases. “Aag mein Ghee dalna” literally means, adding fuel to the fire, an expression used when an action can annoy someone who is already angry.

The popular game of Snakes and Ladders is reminiscent of the folk art from Bihar in India called Madhubani that uses snakes as a motif symbolising potent energy in the form of a kundalini or sometimes as a motif to ward off evil.
