Mantis Inspired Rope Ascender
The balance and harmony between form and function of nature and its beings is intriguing. Drawing inspiration from such a source and embodying it in a product can be a challenging yet exciting task.
I drew inspiration from the powerful predatory insect, Praying Mantis which grips its prey in it clinching forearms. The characteristics were abstracted to the mountaineering rope ascender, whose grip on the rope is of crucial importance.
