The Airport Operations Centre /AOC/ at Burgas Airport is located adjacent to the Air Traffic Control /ATC/ Tower. The Airport Operations Centre hosts the flight planning section and the operations control room and is responsible for aircraft guidance on the apron and is acting as a crisis centre in case of any incidents or emergencies.
The VIP /Very Important Person/ and CIP /Commercially Important Person/ lounge at Burgas Airport is located next to the Departure Passenger Terminal, adjacent to the Airport Operations Centre and the Air Traffic Control Tower.
The proposed concept is an extension which combines the Airport Operations Centre, the VIP lounge and the CIP lounge. In contrast to the straight and rigid structure of the Passenger Terminal 1, the new extension has an oval, balloon shape. The free futuristic form gives an Oriental, Arabic impression, as though leading to a story of Scheherazade for Ali Baba or Aladdin's Wonderful Lamp
