The Fox Raptor was an IDSA award winner, for its careful surfacing. The outside of the shin guard was designed to press against the inside of motocross boots in a way that left a clear channel for the peroneal nerve of the leg. This allowed riders to fully tighten their boots, yet be protected from compressive neuropathy of the leg that was common in motocross riders from overly tight boots.
