Composite Snowboard Binding- sight model - This binding design started was my thesis project in school and I had hopes to develop it with my friends at Mervin Manufacturing. It did not work out because of manufacturing difficulties. The baseplate is made from a filled honeycomb core and wrapped with carbon fiber cloth. The highback is made from several layers of carbon/Kevlar cloth and gets its rigidity from its contours. It is about one half to one third the weight of a normal binding and probably would be at least twice the price!
