Sketching on paper wasn't enough to really understand how to make the interactions you have with your wallet and notebook more memorable so I turned to more physical sketching.
Using interruption to make the user become more aware of each interaction they have with their object came in the form of adding an extra step to normal use.
The brass pen, which will take on a new finish as it is used, is the lock for the notebook so it cannot be used without it.
In the wallet there is a lock card that must be moved before you can access the other cards. This extra step makes you aware and interupts any mindless interaction.

USE

Trying to find out how to make people appreciate the products they own more I put out a survey to find out what objects they carried with them daily and how long they've had them. Based on the numbers it seemed as though wallets, pens, and notebooks were the most popular objects.

I wanted to change the perception we have of wear and tear being a scar to it being a badge of honor and something that is worn with pride.

Made from vegetable tan leather these objects become darker, worn, and more beautiful as they age and are used.
