Original backyard space consisting of a gravel pathway and beauty bark garden surfaces. Customer wanted a large patio space created for entertaining that could accommodate a future fire pit and large scale furniture. Small existing fire pit was removed.
Second stage of a hillside yard makeover involved the design and construction of a patio space that provided a territorial view of the property from a concrete accent bench.
This 8' X 10' patio is part of a larger landscaping project that involved the makeover of an entire front yard that included 1,000 square feet of new lawn, stone edging, and planter boxes.
Wood framework was constructed and leveling gravel spread to form a solid base that patio tiles would then be placed upon.
Patio design consisted of one foot square border tiles in a coarse concrete aggregate material surrounding two foot square light grey concrete tiles with a smooth surface.
This patio project first began as a simple request by the customer to clear away years of weeds and debris that had collected in a lower yard area and then finish with a layer of bark. As the project progressed, an interest in building a patio to accommodate chairs and a fire pit to give the space more of a sense of purpose developed, leading to the construction of a patio utilizing existing concrete landscaping blocks scattered throughout the yard.
A conscious effort was made to utilize bricks with existing moss on their surfaces, to really communicate the look of an "old world" country garden patio.
