Stitched
Stitched re-imagines the experience of sitting as one sits on the suspension of tensioned cords on a lightweight frame, giving the sitter a fleeting impression of floating. The tension of cords as well as the generous width of the chair provides comfort to the user. A visual illusion is created as the cord act as lines to fill the space within the chair, a concurrence of 2d and 3d elements.
Stitched was designed in mind for production. Made from less than board of maple, it is very light weight. The 2-part frame can come apart, making it safer for shipping. To keep the chair simple nothing excessive was added, only what was necessary for the chair to be structurally stable. The placement of the crossbars were echoed in the frames so as to keep the chair visually clean and cohesive.
