Hand-Tufting

Textile hand-tufted wall artpiece. Made for Kanico company to decorate a wall in a dinning room which remains unchanged from the '40s. The dinning room was closed for more than 40 years and now it is going to operate again. The building is located in Sweden close to the river Viskan in Borås. The drawing of the textile piece named "skikt" (layer) was based on an abstract representation of a city plan-view where the orthogonal urban web is interrupted by the diagonal irregular forms of a river. Except of the visual qualities which offer in the room, the different length of the tufted piles in combination to woollen yarns used, give to the surface good sound absorbing properties, improving the room acoustics.
