Bodice and stomacher were fit together and adjusted during production to ensure a good fit. Most embellishment is self trim, but there was a trim braid that matched the stomacher beautifully, so that was added to silk sleeve ruffle.
Sleeve ruffles were edged with a machine scallop stitch on an industrial Burnina. Originally it probably would have been hand roll hemmed.
Stomacher is stitched in on one side and has hooks and eyes on the other side for ease of access.
Hand stitched (spaced back-stitch) pleats down the back
Polonaise back with self covered buttons and cord. The skirt may have been pulled through pocket slits to create volume, or it may have been with a cord. No matching cord was available, so matching braid trim was used.
Detail: Covered button, pleats and sleeve ruffle back.
