First overcoat
Cuff detail. Boiled wool with a stitched edge reinforced by FrayCheck.
The alterations adjustment: fabric added
Total alterations on this garment: add width to chest measurement, reshape sleeves, adjust center front curve. Very few seams were left untouched on this piece!
This overcoat was prototyped out by Research and Design first {pictured}. Adjustments were made to design by the time I constructed the coat {see next two pictures}.
Finished overcoat
This is a shot of the pocket opening. There was no pocket bag by design, just a clever opening through which the man can reach into his jacket or coat pocket. Yet another brilliantly practical 18th century design feature!
Knee bands tailored to the perfect measurement for the man. Nothing like a job well done!
