Lighting Design Proposal: Yantai City Planing Museum; Yantai, 2014
The lighting design proposes to use modern control systems to make it change along the time lines of the sun, the moon, and the tide.
Each of those elements is connected yet changes along its own timeline. This design has ecological advantages. For instance, starting and stopping the electric lighting at different times throughout the year is a more efficient energy consuming system. It however also offers aesthetic features such as different lighting designs for each season.
These changes coexist on their own time lines: the sun changing on a one year cycle, the moon roughly every month, and the tide roughly every 3 hours.
Thus, this design, in addition to being eco-friendly, also offers a dynamic visual style which can connect the viewer to his surroundings.
