Lighting Design Proposal: Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, 2012

Using the idea of “synapse” as a basis for our concept, our group aims to connect the different spaces through lighting. Each area was assigned a geometrical shape as a basis for its lighting design. These shape themes merged into one another as one moved through the space. This project also aimed to bring the
enormous space down to a more human scale.
Personalization was also a key concept, notably for the workroom and personal spaces. The users would be given
the possibility to dim lights as well as chose the color temperature that is suitable for them. This was to build on Karolinska Institutet's theme of "home away from home."
