Design with Type
The primary intention of this problem is to explore the various aspects of the fundamental design principal contrast. Students will experiment with negative/positive relationships, scale as it pertains to contrast, and patterning. Using only letterforms, create six typographic designs in the areas indicated creating typographic equivalents to solve the given problems. In each of the six problems use the designated typeface to simulate a printed piece. Use a minimum of two letterforms and as many colors as your concept dictates, except for the negative/positive problem, where only black and white (no grays) may be used. Note: Carefully consider the following design principals: frame reference, detachment, touching, overlapping, penetration, cropping, repetition, illusionary space, and contrast of shape, size, color, and direction
