MyCloset Application (Lo-Fi)
In order to explore digital design and the use of applications to improve lives, I engaged in the process of designing an application. First, to develop my problem space, I considered a problem that is prevalent in my own life. As a college student who is constantly moving from place to place, I have found it very difficult to pack for trips because I am unsure of what pieces of clothing are at home versus at college. Since I always have my phone, I designed an application, MyCloset that essentially aims to help manage my things. In addition to solving my problem, once developed, it occurred to me that the application has more uses than what I had originally intended. Also, it can help the user realize what clothing pieces they have not worn in significant amounts of time and thus could get rid of. Additional closet space and assistance with the social pressure to dress decently are benefits that came from the application, which was originally intended to manage the user’s closet(s).
