How will we shop in the future? In a conceptual future scenario in which a train comes from the farms of a rural area and enters the city with fresh food, instead of the customer going to the supermarket, the "Fresh Rail" would come to the customer, who would shop with this backpack that is accessed over the user's shoulder. They simply toss their groceries over their shoulder, and unzip the bottom at home. No more plastic bags.

This capacitive touch handrail solution arose from problems gathered from research done in child and elderly safety. Interviews with staff from John's Hopkins CARES (Children Are Safe) mobile safety center, and testing of prototypes at Port Discovery Children's Museum led to this design. Many falls down the stairs happen from not holding the handrail, this product solves the problem by being pleasant to the touch. This rail is sanded smooth and illuminates, thereby inviting people to properly grasp the rail as they use the stairs. Electrical components completed by Robert Joslyn, RIT.
