Set of Platters (Forged Iron)
For this project, my objective was to come up with a form that appeared to be lightweight and had a certain flow in it. It is not a replication of nature and yet has an organic feel to it. The four variations in sizes were done to create a family and to have a big platter decreasing to a really small piece which fits snugly in the palm of our hands.
On another level it has small stories hidden in it, the monkeys depict the entire tale of how they are trying to steal food from the platter and run away.
This course was done under the guidance of Prof. Jogi Panghaal and master craftsmen from Bastar - Mr. Hiralal Baghlal and Mr. Sunder lal Poyam and Kanta devi (Gadiya Lohaar from Jaipur).
