Transformed was a project for the company Warli for the competition "The right Designer for every company".
It is a system of carpet making that combines two traditional crafts of India – Cane Basket making and hand
knotted carpet making. Along with fitting in the traditional connotation of a carpet, it attains a three dimensional structure to expand its radius of usability
The raised portion of the carpet is made using cane craft and as it reaches the floor the weave material is gradually changed to felt which provides the softness that is needed in a carpet. The weave and material provide the stability of a raised structure without using any external support systems.The raised hollow portion of the carpet can be used for storage and is covered with a wooden tray to also be used as a bedside table. Similar carpets can also be made for other contexts such as living room, hallway, etc
