Nike Shox Monsterfly and Shox Monster trainer

When I first got to Nike in 1999 and saw the Shox cushioning system I immediately thought it would be great for a sprint spike. The original notion I had was that you could use the geometry to keep the sprinter in the power position of taking off out of the blocks. I then sketched up the first drawings and made a prototype that I showed to Mark Parker. He loved it. We had Shawn Crawford try it in the Olympics and he won gold! Marketing requested a trainer version that went on to sell more than a million and a half pairs.
