"Don Giovanni" - The University of Texas at Austin. There’s narcissism and then there’s Don Giovanni. Giovanni is a man without regard of consequences, vain and the ultimate narcissist. Existing in a prurient society where sexual repression is so powerful that once passions do break the surface they shatter the normal with ferocity and ruthlessness. This ruthlessness brings to the forefront the battle between the classes. In this world, heroin sub-culture meets rococo fashion ultimately becoming an urban couture battleground. Graffiti and grit cover up a once decadent environment and furniture. Dusty mirrors illuminate and reflect the space, showing multiple sides to any one person. Ripped open furniture that looks as if it should be in a museum has been re-upholstered with raven feathers and un-natural materials. It is the deconstruction and reflection of a world consumed by vanity, hypocrisy and repression and if one isn’t careful they might lose themselves within those mirrors.
