ARTIST STATEMENT:
Vivid rosettes float over a forest floor as though to enhance our perception of its capacity for renewal. Our anthropocentric presence is restrained in a phyto-green immersion to contemplate breezes that rotate the stars in quiet exchange of kinetic energy. Visualising an imperative for a post-industrial steady-state economy the crisp machined material infers both seen and unseen mechanisms chromatically – colonial red and blue blurred into purple, aboriginal red and yellow burred into orange, while borrowing Arabic geometry with mathematical intensity. Virtual geo-tag language is referenced in a formal calligraphic configuration, yet beckons a personal interaction beyond our culture’s hydrocarbon dependence (on coal and oil) to transform our vulnerabilities.
