Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show 2017
Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show, and the evolution of 'Frockometry" the garment I designed for the event. "Frockometry", a merge of frock and geometry, is made from three healthcare privacy curtain sample panels and plastic laminate chips. The earrings and bracelet are made from the mesh portion of the healthcare privacy curtains. Inspiration came from origami (seen in the folded neckline), M.C. Escher, and fashion designer Iris van Herpen. The stepped plastic laminate chips are reminiscent of setback architecture, and the addition of an obi makes this a kimono-esque garment. The garment was completed around my full-time work schedule-two weekday all-nighters, three weekends spent self-fitting, tailoring, and sewing the garment, numerous early morning epiphanies, and finally, modeling and working the runway...totally worth the effort, to raise money for education!
