Discontinued Quilt
2017 entry for The Sister's Outdoor Quilt Show.
Title: Discontinued
Dimensions: 54x72.
Made from discontinued fabric memos that are repurposed and "continued" in this quilt. The numerous patterns and colors are arranged in vertical linear geometric segments in varied widths with three horizontal bars that intersect perpendicular to "discontinue" the continuous vertical lines, creating an asymmetrical balance inspired by Mondrian paintings. This ebb and flow can be interpreted as the recurrent or rhythmical pattern of coming and going or decline and regrowth. The quilt is top stitched by hand, influenced by Gee's Bend quilts and Sashiko Stitching.
