Algae Farm & Research Center

Algae Farm & Research Center studies and utilizes seaweed found in Aberdeen's port quite effectively. The interactive learning zone is comprised of cylindrical algae filled glass tubes and a variety of interactive activities which raise awareness and provide learning in a fun and unique manner.
-Algae is grown for several reasons: Reduce air pollution and clean the port's polluted water.
-Produce biofeuls, thus power the whole center and perhaps provide alternative energy to the unreliable oil and gas industry in Aberdeen
-Attract marine life since fish feed on algae
(Project was requested to participate in Polyark / Polyport III an international collaborative design project coordinated by the Royal Institute of British Architects)
