Cadbury, History of Chocolate

Cadbury, History of Chocolate

This broadside poster recalls one of the earliest times in “chocolate history”
when Cadbury was popular in England as “Drinking Chocolate.” Alcohol
consumption was very high in the late 1700s and deemed bad for society
by the English Quakers. Everyone resorted to drinking chocolate as a healthy
alternative. The typeface used is Caslon, developed by an Englishman
William Caslon. Caslon was the first original typeface of England origin. Its
readability in small print is what makes Caslon such a great typeface and is
widely used to this day in magazines, newspapers and booklets.
