Sunzen II is a result of the original Sunzen project. Inspired by the findings in my research about Japanese culture, I wanted to explore further through a second chair design as an extension of the Sunzen aesthetic. Sunzen II represents more of the struggle between preservation of tradition and historical values, and shifting into the modern, industrialized world. This struggle is showcased in part by the materials, where I utilized bent steel and organic, satin finished teak.
