Art Installation
I consider my installation to be a contemporary/conceptual artwork that depicts the critical sociopolitical issue of child migration.
Sueños, uses a variety of recycled material to celebrate the infinite cycle of life. The butterflies are the centerpiece of the installation and are made from clippings of newspaper reports of migrant children who have died or disappeared on their journey. Sand was employed for its dualistic meaning, emphasizing both the fate of and the ephemeral truth of child migrants’ dreams. Finally, the wooden crosses represent the train tracks of “The Beast” , often referred to as "Death Train”.
